Every summer, I always put together a list of things to do before the summer is over. My way of taking advantage of why the locals stay in Atlantic City throughout the winter to taste the sweet nectar the summer has to offer.
When people think of Bucket lists, you think of adrenaline seeking junkies putting their lives at risk for that taste of adventure.
This list however, is more for the average person looking to try things not the normal tourist gets to experience. Everyone could just get on a plane and free fall but that’s not original.
Here are a few things I would love to cross off my list this summer that I bet some of you didn’t even know existed.
1. Water gun fight at NYC’s the Great Lawn in Central Park.
Nothing brings you back to your childhood then an old-fashion water gun fight.
2. Laying out in a hammock at Spruce Street Harbor Park in Philadelphia.
You may not be on vacation but it doesn’t mean you can’t relax like you are. Take a day off your schedule to lay and relax in a hammock at the beautiful Spruce street Harbor Park.
3. Experience an outdoor movie screening at Bryant Park in NYC.
One of the few activities I have yet to try is experiencing a movie outside in a park. Bryant Park partnered up with HBO and Bank of America to host the Summer Film Festival. They even offer blankets!
4. Learn how to Surf.
Every summer, I always tell myself that I would learn how to surf. With the AC surf school made available to us, I do not have an excuse not to learn this year. Let’s hope that massive great white shark doesn’t give Atlantic City a visit.
5. Enjoy a campfire with your friends on the beach.
You can watch the sunset with a cold brew in your hand, while being surrounded with your bestest of friends around a campfire. It can’t get any better unless someone pulls out a banjo to be honest.
6. Give a meal to the hungry.
Nothing feels more satisfying than giving. Pay it forward people! Life will pay you back eventually.
7. Learn how to cook at the Viking Cooking School in Atlantic City.
Make a self-improvement by teaching yourself how to cook. Even if you are a decent cook, I’m sure there’s always something new to learn. I wonder if I could learn how to roll sushi here…
8. Drink out of a fresh coconut.
I’ve wanted to try this for the longest time. It may seem like an easy quest but believe me; I couldn’t even find one in the Bahamas.
9. Free beach concert in Atlantic City
The biggest hit last year in Atlantic City was Blake Shelton and Lady Antebellum’s free concert on the beach. This event should easily be on top of your bucket list if you haven’t gone last year.
