10. Butcher and Singer

Butcher and Singer has one of the best burgers in the city including a great atmosphere for a very comfortable feel for a nice lunch or dinner with great service. One person said they felt as though they “we’re in a place where Al Capone would have come eaten back in the day.” The Butcher Burger is topped with fried onions under English cheddar and house Russian dressing. It’s also a very high quality burger with a decent price at just $13.95, fries included.

9. Royal Tavern

With a great vibe and plenty of beers to choose from, top it off with something nice and filling! The Royal Tavern’s succulent burger is topped with bacon, caramelized onions, smoked Gouda, pickled long hot’s, and chile mayonnaise. It has been recognized around the city as one of the best with a price tag of $13.

8. Good Dog

Eater.com lists the Good Dog Burger as one of the top burgers in the country. It is a stuffed burger with Roquefort cheese oozing out of the middle with every bite and topped with caramelized onions in-between a yummy brioche bun. This was one of my favorite places to go, relax, and enjoy a very tasty burger. For the price of this burger I will be coming back again and again.

7. Village Whiskey

One of the staples in Philadelphia is none other than Village Whiskey. Celebrity chef Jose Garces serves up one of the better burgers in the city pairing it with over 80 whiskeys to choose from. Both burgers are served on a soft sesame-seed roll. The Village Burger is 8 ounces of Angus beef, topped with a house-made Thousand Island dressing, lettuce, and tomato. The Whiskey King started out at 10 ounces, but has since slimmed down to 8. Either way it’s still decadent, topped with sweet cipollini onions, melted blue cheese, bacon, and foie gras. The Village Burger comes with a good price of $13, but the King burger is quite more expensive at $26.

6. PYT

PYT is one of the most unique burgers in Philly as well as assortment of other great tastes. Starting off with the “Cheeseburger Waffle Fries” is a great choice coming with 3 patties topped with cheddar & PYT sauce on waffle fry buns. Next you can try the original PYT burger or go with something a little more daring with “The Doh! Nut” Beef patty, American cheese & chocolate-covered bacon on a glazed donut bun. One of the craziest things I have ever tasted! End the meal with an Adult Shake, the Butterfinger Shake is a nice one to wash everything down.

5. The Spot

The Spot is absolutely great and a staple in the city, located in 33rd & Arch. Not exactly a restaurant, but a tiny yellow food truck that has been around for the past few years. It was the Winner of Rewrapped on Food Network Food Truck of the Year 2012. It has amazing burgers according to the locals, the have “big, fat, juicy Angus burger for five or six bucks, depending how you build it.” You can go with one of the staple, bacon cheeseburger or you can go with the daily special. Either way, a worthy choice for best burger in Philadelphia.

A burger chain with most of its locations based out of New York, and is relatively expensive, but absolutely well worth it. It is well known for its organic menu and greens. The burgers though are what people really come for, whether you want to create your own or get one of the great burgers already on the menu. Please don’t forget to get one of the sides and snacks.

We start the top three for best burger in Philadelphia with Sketch. It’s one of the more interesting burger spots in Philadelphia. You can sketch while you eat your large juicy burger. Some of the sketches are taken and hung around the restaurant. Great vibe, great food, a must stop place for a great burger.

2.Rouge

Owned by a husband and wife, Rouge has been open with some of the best food in Philadelphia since 1998 located on 205 S. 18th Street. With great dinner options from NY Strip Steak, to a wonderful Verlasso Salmon. It’s very well known for its Rouge Burger though loaded with caramelized onion, Gruyere, bibb lettuce, tomato, dill pickle, challah roll, and pommes frites. Rouge is a little bit expensive but well worth it. Make sure you come here on an empty stomach and enjoy!

The Standard Tap has been around for over 15 years, great for locals and visitors alike. It has a great food selection matched by the great craft brews. The food is made with the best products available, as well as fresh local produce from farms around the area and many local vendors.
